The Meaning Behind Our Designs: The TōhMee Story
Every design in the shop starts as a reaction to something — a phrase stuck in rotation, a piece of internet culture, a visual idea that wouldn't leave us alone until it became a tee.
We lean toward designs with one strong idea rather than crowded, busy graphics. A single bold image or line of text tends to age better than an all-over print packed with detail, because it stays legible and relevant long after the reference that inspired it fades.
A lot of the catalog draws from meme culture, sneaker culture, and everyday phrases turned into something wearable — the kind of designs that get a reaction from someone who gets the reference, without needing an explanation to look good on someone who doesn't.
Colorways are chosen after the graphic, not before — we test each design across several base colors and keep only the combinations where the print actually pops, which is why some designs come in five colors and others in two.
The goal with every drop is the same: something you'd still want to wear a year from now, not just the week it launched.
